ImagineS

Services and Products

ImagineS provides:

  1. Products: global and regional (over demonstration sites) biophysical variables derived from multi-sensor satellite data, at different spatial resolutions, together with agricultural indicators, including the above-ground biomass, the carbon and water fluxes, and drought indices resulting from the assimilation of the biophysical variables in the Land Data Assimilation System.

Detailed ImagineS products. 1: when a new acquisition is available

The production in near real time of the 333m resolution products, at a frequency of 10 days, using PROBA-V data is carried out in the Copernicus Global Land Service. It should start early 2015 covering Europe only, and gradually extended to the whole globe from the end of 2015. Meanwhile, IMAGINES will perform in parallel off-line production over the demonstration sites outside Europe.  The demonstration of high resolution (30m) products (Landsat-8 + PROBA-V) will be done over some demonstration sites of cropland and grassland in contrasting climatic and environmental conditions.

  1. Software: a pre-operational processing line interoperable with the existing Copernicus infrastructure and able to run in near real time at a global scale; a prototype using high resolution data running off-line over demonstration sites

  1. Analysis: a utility assessment of the products and of the pre-operational service; a cost-benefit assessment of business models to stimulate operative and self-supportive agriculture service based upon the Sentinels data.
